One experiment that I did, just before the first frost landed here, was to see if regular dried beans would germinate. I wondered if they were heated to hot during the drying process to prohibit them from sprouting. Turns out that they were not.
I cannot say that all will perform like these 11 varieties nor can I say that they will produce. However, I will say that it warrants more experimenting come Spring! The Black Beans germinated around 80% as did most of the others. Just regular, cheap beans.
They actually came up fast and an early frost took out several. I mounded dirt over them but the several still got bit. Still, they made good looking starts.
More posts for the other ones tried to come shortly.
